The last two and a half weeks of February kept the 2010-11 winter from being among the few coldest on record. The last five days kept it from being the absolute driest on record.

Still, the winter, which ended Monday on the meteorological statistical calendar, could properly be termed a cold, dry winter for most of Southwest Virginia.
