Voices of the Valleys
We had the pleasure of sharing this tradition with our children when they lived at home. The four of us eagerly anticipated the one- hour trip to the tree farm and the trek through nature. Amazingly, the numbers of "perfect" trees abound in frigid temperatures! (Hot chocolate was always the next order of business.) Patience and discernment correlate more favorably with warmer temperatures. Though fir remains our tree of choice, we have come to prefer a tall and less portly centerpiece.
Times change and children grow up. Over the last several years, the tradition has come full circle and returned to the original two- person expedition.
