A Top-to-Bottom Pay Problem

Summary


Jennings Heilig made an excellent point on Tuesday's editorial page about the exorbitant salary of the new Radford University president ("Virginia can't afford Kyle's salary," July 14 letter). We have been made aware through the media of many instances of what seem like excessive salaries for all types of executives (both in public and private organizations).

I would like to make a related point based on a graduate class I took in the early '90s through Virginia Tech. It was entitled College Administration and probably is still offered. In a paper I submitted in that class, I did research and found that top salaries were indeed high, and a few professors might have been overpaid for what they contributed.
