Summary


The 163-foot-long pedestrian swinging bridge spans Craig Creek and offers an alternative public crossing when high water discourages all but the foolhardy from driving through the stream. The same combination of a swinging suspension bridge, a public road and vehicle ford occurs at several spots along Craig Creek in Botetourt County.

The Virginia Department of Transportation maintains 10 pedestrian bridges in the county. Seven are the swinging type.
