Stalin's Role in D-Day

Summary


Robin Edward Reed's op-ed article "D-Day story includes Stalin" (Jan. 30) was right on. I can confirm. I was more than a witness to the political struggles to open what was called "the second front"; I was a participant.

It is well known that the Communist Party of the United States was an agent of Soviet policy; it was well known at the time, when I was an active member of that movement (1936-1948). To be more specific, it was the top leadership of the CPUSA that had this role; we in the rank and file denied this, denied it to ourselves. It was known to everybody but us.
