Summary
The 2011 session of the Virginia General Assembly will be an important one for all Virginians. During this session, many so- called freedom bills will be brought before the legislature. These bills are intended to restore balance to the system and rein in an out-of-control federal government. Of these bills, H.B. 1357 attempts to go for the goal and bring back the all but forgotten doctrine of nullification.
In simplest terms, the Virginia Atmospheric Sovereignty Act seeks to nullify any federal law or regulation that attempts to limit the amount of carbon dioxide that is emitted into the Earth's atmosphere. By nullifying a federal law or regulation, Virginia would proclaim that the law or regulation in question is unconstitutional and thus null and void within the boundaries of the commonwealth.See the full content of this document
