If ever there was a time for Roanoke Valley Horse Rescue to have a medical barn, it would be now. For the first time in nine years, RVHR is dealing with an outbreak of a virus known as equine strangles, a highly contagious disease that affects the upper airway and lymph nodes in the head and neck of young horses, and can abscess.
