Lawsuits Over Tech Shootings Advance

Summary


Two $10 million wrongful death lawsuits filed by parents of women slain in the April 16, 2007, shootings at Virginia Tech will go forward, at least to the discovery phase, a judge ruled late Tuesday.

The ruling by Franklin County Circuit Court Judge William Alexander will likely allow the parents of Julia Pryde and Erin Peterson to depose Tech President Charles Steger and Executive Vice President James Hyatt and demand a full accounting of how critical decisions were made and who made them on the day shooter Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 students and faculty members and then himself.
