Summary


A lot of things have to go right for a high school football team to reach the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. Such has been the case across the board for undefeated Eastern Montgomery this fall.

Yet despite all the good deeds and fine fortunes that have landed the host Mustangs in Friday's 7:30 p.m. Division 1 Region C championship tilt against Galax, perhaps none of it would have been possible unless there had first been football at old Shawsville High, the school that served this end of the county until EastMont opened down U.S. 460 in Elliston in 2000.
