A heart ailment has robbed Allan Chaney of the opportunity to play for Virginia Tech, but he is hopeful that some college will give him the chance to revive his basketball career.

Chaney missed last season because of a viral inflammation of his heart. He hoped to play for Tech as a fourth-year junior in the upcoming season, but the school said Wednesday that its sports medicine staff would not clear him to ever play for the Hokies.
