Diabetes Walk Puts Many On the Same Path

The past year has been difficult for Jenifer Schier. Her 2-year- old son, Peyton, was diagnosed with diabetes. He receives four or five insulin shots a day, depending on what he eats. Despite these challenges, Schier said she found reassurance at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation's Walk to Cure Diabetes on Sunday in downtown Roanoke. This is her second year completing the walk's 2-mile route.

Inside Straight Nails It

Some people joke that a bass solo is a good time to go get a drink or take a smoke break. When Christian McBride is playing the bass solo, it's a time to listen, a time to learn. On Sunday night at Jefferson Center, McBride brought Inside Straight, an ensemble of equally phenomenal musicians. It kept the crowd of 385 in rapt attention with musical depth, fierce solos and high energy.

Report Addresses High Tides
